Description: Subway was opened by the then 17 year old Fred DeLuca a 17-year-old college freshman, and family friend Dr. Peter Buck in 1965. The first restaurant opened in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA on August 28 and was called Pete’s Super Submarines. The first franchised SUBWAY® unit opened in 1974 in Wallingford, Connecticut.
